Michael has served on various dairy industry boards, and maintains an intimate knowledge of the Canadian dairy industry and its members’ needs. As both a board member and Board Chairman of the Ontario DHI Board of Directors (1998-2004) and CanWest DHI (2004-2010), Michael negotiated the merger of Western Canadian DHI and Ontario DHI to form CanWest DHI. As both a Board Member and Board Chairman of the Canadian Dairy Network (2002-2010), Michael worked to achieve strategic goals, while as a Board Member for the Dairy Farmers of Canada (2002-2010) he chaired the Scientific Review Committee (PESAC) for all national dairy production research in Canada (2004-2010). Additionally, represented the Dairy Farmers of Canada on the Industry-Government Advisory Committee for Traceability and profiled all aspects of the Canadian dairy industry to various foreign delegations. Michael has also worked for Norwell Dairy Systems, Progressive Dairy Solutions/Capital Sales in industry and government relations, providing dairy expertise, oversight and strategic direction, while leveraging contacts, growing capital and profiling new technologies. Additionally, from 1996-2010 he was the owner of a top producing dairy herd in Grenville County where he developed embryo and cattle sales domestically and internationally. Currently, he serves as the Executive Director of The Canadian Livestock Genetics Association, where he represents the market access and animal health interests of those involved in the sale, service and promotion of livestock genetics both domestically and internationally.
