Director General, Transportation Infrastructure Programs
Marie-Claude Petit assumes, since June 27, 2016, the functions of Director General, Surface Infrastructure Programs at Transport Canada, after four years as executive director of Communications in this department.
As Director General of the Transportation Infrastructure Programs at Transport Canada, she is responsible for a number of infrastructure initiatives and programs aimed at enhancing the efficiency, capacity and safety of Canada's transportation system. Her responsibilities include the management of the National Trade Corridors Fund, a two billion dollar national transportation infrastructure program announced last year by the Government of Canada as part of the Investing in Canada Plan strategy for addressing long-term infrastructure needs in Canada.
She joined the public service in 2001 at Environment Canada and went on to hold positions of increasing responsibility in various departments in the Government of Canada. Prior to that, she spent about ten years in print and television journalism, including several years as television producer.
Marie-Claude Petit is also Canada’s first Delegate to the World Road Association where she plays an active role as member of the Executive Committee and co-chair of the Communications Commission.
