John Ross has more than 30 years of commitment to the Canadian Livestock industry. After earning a degree in Animal Science and Agriculture from the University of Guelph, he has ben intimately involved in the implementation of genetic improvement programs, the creation of the domestic and export market development strategies, and the national pork, beef and sheep roundtables. Since its inception, John has also chaired the Canadian industry/government steering committee for the country-of-origin labelling (COOL) dispute. From 2007 to 2016, John served as the Director of the Animal Food Division of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. Since 2016, he has been the Executive Director for the Canadian Pork Council, representing 7,000 farms that produce 25.5 million hogs a year.
