Columbia River Treaty: Grand Coulee Dam Tour
Grand Coulee Dam Tour
When: Wednesday, July 2  from 2 p.m. - 10 p.m.
Cost: $25 (Must register before June 20)

This tour will feature the Grand Coulee Dam, one of the most significant water systems in Eastern Washington. Participants will get the chance to take part in a special tour of the facilities and hear from the local community about the impacts of the Dam on the regional economy and ecosystem.  We are also planning for a reception to further discuss and understand the significance of the Dam.

Security Clearance:
Participants need to send in passport details one month before the Tour (6/20).

Fairchild Air Force Base Policy Tour

Fairchild AFB is home to a wide variety of units and missions. Most prominent is it air refueling mission. Other units here include the Air Force Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape school, medical detachments, a weapons squadron, and the Joint Personnel Recovery Agency.

Over 5,200 active duty Air Force, Air National Guard, and tenant organization military and civilian employees work on Fairchild, making the base the largest employer in Easter Washington. Fairchild's annual economic impact on the Spokane Community is approximately $427 million, constituting 13 percent of the local economy.

Attendees will be given a tour of the base's facilities, and learn more about the important role the base plays in the local economy.

Columbia River Treaty Policy Tour
Formal negotiations between the U.S. and Canada on the Columbia River Treaty began early this year. The agreement, which began in 1964, governs hydropower and flood-control operations along the Columbia River.  

This two-day tour will take participants to a number of significant sites along the Columbia River on both sides of the border, and will feature insights from leading experts on recommendations for modernizing the Treaty.

Further details will be announced later but the tour will last Thursday all-day to 5:30pm Friday. The Thursday night hotel will be arranged by PNWER with attendees responsible for the cost.  

Priority will be given to legislators.
